Ropes and wires are used where adverse weather conditions such as wind are commonplace. Ropes have also been shown to be less sensitive in winter snow. Ropes are somewhat easier to install yet offer lower visibility than tapes. The lower the specified resistance in ohm/m on the rope roll, the more electricity flows through the fence to the animal.
